Let’s keep it real. Trying to get pregnant after a loss is an emotional and delicate journey. It often requires detailed medical monitoring, heightened personal awareness, and more time than you might have expected. Navigating this journey is challenging enough personally, and figuring out how to balance it with your professional responsibilities adds another layer of complexity. Should you share? When? With whom? These are deeply personal choices, and the right answers depend on your comfort and circumstances.
For me, balancing the highs and lows can and does feel overwhelming. When I decide to share information, I can build and develop meaningful relationships. However, how can I still protect my peace once people become personally invested? What if I’m not ready to share? What if it’s not the positive outcome I am hoping to share?
Personally, I had to balance my peace and this process. Professionally, I still have a job that requires a high level of skill and concentration. Mentally, I am full of anxiety and fear that everything can and will go wrong.
So in a different approach than usual, I have three scriptures I rely on that have bolstered my strength and peace during this time.
Isaiah 43:19 - “Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert"" → I have been forcing myself daily to believe that a different outcome is and will be possible.
Philippians 4:6 - “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God” → I have been challenging myself to say and do what I need to and try to earnestly hand it over to God once I have prayed.
Psalm 27:13-14 - “I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."" → I once had someone remind me faith and fear can’t coexist. Why pray for something if you don’t actually believe it will ever happen?
That realization made it real for me. If I am going to pray, wait and hope for something, I have gotta believe that it’s going to work out for my good. So here’s to boundaries, blessings and balance. And spoiler alert regarding my journey thus far: my IVF transfer was successful ;)
